Carabineros de Chile will submit a request for additional resources to authorities to proceed with the reconstruction of the Óscar Cristi police station, located in the city of Valdivia.

The decision follows a bidding process that left the project without viable options. According to reports from BioBioChile, the single bid submitted for the project exceeded the budget originally allocated for the construction.

Budget shortfall stalls project

The tender process was intended to secure the necessary infrastructure for the operation of this police unit in the southern region of the country. However, the gap between the cost of the sole bid and the available funds has prevented construction from beginning.

The institution is now focusing its efforts on securing the additional funds needed to cover the deficit. Without this financing, the reconstruction of this facility—a key component of public safety in the Valdivia commune—remains on hold.

While the institution has not yet disclosed the exact amount of the budget shortfall, it confirmed that securing new funding is the primary strategy to prevent the project from going unawarded once again.
