The Regional Health Authority (Seremi de Salud) in Ñuble has issued a health alert for the Ñuble and Bío Bío regions after detecting the presence of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes in a batch of artisanal pork pâté.
The findings directly involve products from the company Cecinas Candia. Health officials identified the contaminant during the implementation of the Regional Microbiological Hazard Surveillance Program.
Safety Measures and Sales Ban
The affected batches include products manufactured on March 22, 2026, with an expiration date of April 15 of the same year. Health authorities have issued an urgent plea to the public to avoid consuming these products if they match the specified details.
As an immediate measure to mitigate the health risk, the Ñuble Health Authority has ordered a ban on the production and sale of all cooked products by Cecinas Candia. This sanction aims to prevent the spread of the microorganism through other foods processed at the same facility.
Listeria monocytogenes poses a significant risk to public health, particularly for vulnerable populations. Microbiological food surveillance proved to be a critical tool in detecting this anomaly before the contaminated product could be distributed more widely.
