Senegalese superstar Youssou N'Dour and Malian artist Fatoumata Diawara are set to headline the 2026 edition of the Festival des Musiques Urbaines d'Anoumabo (FEMUA) in Ivory Coast.
According to France 24, the festival will feature performances in Anoumabo and Dimbokro. The event showcases a wide range of African musical styles, including Afrobeat, rumba, and rap.
Founded by A'Salfo, the frontman of the band Magic System, FEMUA has established itself as a major date in the African cultural calendar over the last 18 years. This year's lineup also includes a special guest appearance from Gabon.
Musical milestones and global spotlights
The festival coincides with other major shifts in the African music scene. France 24 reported that Congolese rumba star Fally Ipupa is celebrating 20 years in the music industry with the release of a new double album and upcoming stadium concerts in Paris.
Beyond the music festival, the outlet noted that the agnès b. gallery is currently hosting an exhibition focused on Palestinian lives. The art aims to give a human face to the heavy statistics of the ongoing war in Gaza.
