Former Migos rapper Offset is in stable condition and under medical supervision following a shooting outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood casino in Florida. The 34-year-old artist, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was transported to a hospital after the incident occurred at a valet area shortly after 7:00 p.m. local time on Monday.
A spokesperson for the performer confirmed his condition, stating that he is being "closely monitored" by medical staff. The Seminole Police Department reported that the injuries sustained by the victim are not considered life-threatening.
Authorities have detained two individuals in connection with the altercation. Among those in custody is rapper Tione Jayden Merritt, known professionally as Lil Tjay, who faces a charge of disorderly conduct.
Investigation underway
Police officials stated that the investigation remains active as detectives work to identify additional persons involved in the shooting. The valet area where the violence took place was secured by law enforcement shortly after the incident, though details regarding the motive or the sequence of events have not been disclosed.
Offset, a multi-platinum recording artist, rose to international prominence as a member of the hip-hop trio Migos alongside Quavo and Takeoff. The group attained widespread fame with their 2013 hit "Versace" and topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017 with "Bad and Boujee."
The trio separated in early 2022, with Offset transitioning to a solo career while Quavo and Takeoff formed a new duo. Later that year, the group suffered a significant loss when Takeoff was shot and killed at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas.
Offset married singer Cardi B in 2017, and the couple shares three children. The pair filed for divorce in 2024 following a period of separation. As the investigation into Monday’s shooting continues, the Seminole Police Department has requested that anyone with information regarding the incident come forward.
