Chilean drummer José Burdiles is set to perform his first studio album live during the last week of May, with a series of concerts scheduled for Santiago and Concepción. The release of his debut jazz fusion LP marks the culmination of a production process featuring collaborations with prominent figures in Chilean popular music, according to latercera.com.

The tour kicks off next Wednesday, May 20, at Bar Liguria in Santiago's Manuel Montt neighborhood. For this performance, Burdiles will be joined by many of the musicians who participated in the studio recording.

The repertoire for these shows will feature work involving renowned musicians such as Jorge Campos—known for his work with Congreso, Fulano, and Santiago del Nuevo Extremo—and Mauricio Durán of Los Bunkers. Multi-instrumentalist Martín Benavides, recently seen performing at Lollapalooza 2026, will also take part.

An analog-inspired production

The album was produced by engineer Chalo González for the TMPRMNTL Records label. According to reports, the recording and mastering were done on tape to give the work a distinct analog character.

The physical release is a limited edition of 300 gatefold vinyl records. These are already available in record stores across Santiago, Concepción, Madrid, Barcelona, and Rio de Janeiro.

Ahead of the concerts, a mini-documentary directed by Jaime Landeros will premiere, chronicling the album's recording process. This audiovisual piece is intended to complement the live experience for concertgoers.

For the percussionist, whose career includes stints with bands such as Zurdaka, Machuca, and Emociones Clandestinas, this release represents a personal milestone. “The live debut of my first album marks the end of a nearly year-long cycle between recording and final production, but it is a collection of music and experiences from a long journey that I can finally share with everyone attending the shows. Much like the album itself, it will be a journey through soundscapes—intimate and intense—alongside great musicians and friends,” Burdiles said.

Following the Santiago date, the tour will head to his hometown, Concepción, with performances on Friday the 22nd at Bar Callejón and Saturday the 23rd at Casa de Salud. The concert series will conclude on May 28 at the Thelonious Jazz Club, also in Santiago. Capacity for the first show at Bar Liguria is limited and requires registration via email.
