The Investigative Police (PDI) have arrested two individuals and are currently searching for a third suspect involved in the homicide of Marcos Alexander Escobar Huenchual in the city of Traiguén, Araucanía Region.
Passersby discovered the victim's body in a public area near the Guacolda bridge last Sunday.
Upon arriving at the scene, Carabineros officers confirmed they found a man lying on the ground with multiple injuries.
Investigation ongoing
Subprefect Sergio Alarcón, head of the PDI Homicide Brigade in Temuco, stated that the 30-year-old man had sustained various wounds from a sharp object.
The Prosecutor's Office has instructed the police to carry out the necessary investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding the crime.
On Monday, authorities brought Jaime Contreras Avello, 39, and José Vega Torres, 26, before the Traiguén Guarantee Court for a detention hearing.
The court has extended the detention of both suspects until next Thursday.
This measure is intended to allow time for forensic reports to be integrated into the case before the formal charging hearing.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains active as they continue to search for a third person believed to have participated in the attack.
