The Bellavista Border Complex, located in the Timaukel commune, is set to close its doors next Thursday, April 30. The move follows the end of the summer season in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica region.

The Provincial Presidential Delegation of Tierra del Fuego confirmed the decision through its official channels. The closure will directly impact connectivity in the Tierra del Fuego area, as it is the only operational border crossing in the sector.

Travel alternatives

With the upcoming disruption to transit, authorities are urging travelers to plan their trips in advance. The deadline to cross through this point is next Thursday.

For those unable to make the trip before the deadline, officials recommend using the San Sebastián Pass. This checkpoint is located in the town of Porvenir, approximately 300 kilometers from Bellavista.

The Provincial Presidential Delegation also used the announcement to recognize the work of the complex's staff. According to the statement, the team plays a key role in "safeguarding sovereignty and contributing to connectivity in one of the southernmost territories in the country."
