President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo categorically rejected U.S. government interference in Mexico’s internal affairs during her second accountability report, held on May 31 at the Monument to the Revolution. The event, titled "Two Years After the Triumph: Honesty, Results, Love for the People and the Homeland," lasted one hour and five minutes, according to El Universal. The president challenged recent allegations by the U.S. Department of Justice against the governor of Sinaloa on leave, Rubén Rocha Moya, and nine other Mexican citizens regarding their alleged ties to organized crime.
Addressing thousands of supporters, Sheinbaum warned: "They come for some, then for others, until the offices of the Department of Justice become the primary arbiter of Mexico’s elections. We cannot allow that." The president suggested that factions of the American far-right may be using Mexico to position themselves ahead of the 2026 elections. During her speech, she emphasized that her administration represents the continuation of the Fourth Transformation initiated by Andrés Manuel López Obrador, noting that her rise to power marked the first time a woman has led the Republic—a milestone she described as the victory of a people who decided to "keep making history," as reported by El Universal.
Following the event, various public figures expressed their support. Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez stated that Sheinbaum’s leadership "fills us with hope," while the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, highlighted the mobilization of "more than 27,000 Baja Californians" in support of the president. Additionally, Sheinbaum noted that due to ongoing electoral processes, it was decided not to hold public square presentations in the state of Coahuila, according to the full text published by El Universal.
Bilateral tensions have intensified since April 19, when the deaths of two CIA agents during an operation in Chihuahua were made public. The president reiterated that the production center in question was dismantled by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and denounced a media offensive. During the event, a banner criticizing her administration was unfurled, an incident reported by El Universal.
Sheinbaum used the platform to distance herself from previous administrations, criticizing Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón. In contrast, she stressed: "When it is dictated from abroad who is guilty and who is not, we are no longer talking about cooperation; we are talking about interference."
Despite the confrontational climate, the president presented economic indicators: Mexico recorded $23.591 billion in foreign direct investment in the first quarter of 2026, a 10.4% increase over the previous year, according to data cited by CNN Chile. She also reported the creation of 669,000 formal jobs. The president concluded her message by reaffirming that "Mexico is no one’s piñata."
