A man was robbed and stabbed during the early hours of Friday in Punta Arenas, Magallanes region. The incident took place on Juan Carrera Pinto Prolongation, where the victim sustained a stab wound during the attack.
Following the assault, the victim was rushed to the Magallanes Clinical Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, upon his arrival at the facility, police officers proceeded to arrest him after verifying his legal status.
According to reports from biobiochile.cl, police identified the individual as being wanted by the justice system since last year for a serious assault. Additionally, his criminal record includes an outstanding case dating back to 2020.
Legal status of the detainee
Once the man was medically cleared, he was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office. Despite his outstanding warrants, judicial authorities ordered his release on the condition that he appears for future court summons.
Investigations into the violent incident that led to his hospitalization remain ongoing. As of the time of this report, no arrests have been made in connection with the street robbery.
