President José Antonio Kast has appointed counselor Ana María Hübner as the new president of the State Defense Council (CDE). The decision follows the conclusion of Raúl Letelier's term.

A career attorney with a history at the agency dating back to 1991, Hübner will take the helm of the century-old institution. Her appointment ends the period of uncertainty regarding the state agency's new leadership.

Former CDE President Raúl Letelier expressed his satisfaction with the choice in an email to staff members. “This appointment brings us great joy. It is a clear recognition of her outstanding career within the council,” Letelier stated.

Career and Technical Expertise

The new president has a long-standing history with the CDE. She was appointed as an alternate counselor in 2006 and became a full member in 2007, during the administration of former President Michelle Bachelet.

In addition to her public service, Hübner is the managing partner of the law firm Hübner & Raveau Abogados, which she founded in 1982. The private practice specializes in family law and courtroom litigation.

In the academic sphere, she has taught civil law at the University of Chile, Diego Portales University, and Universidad de Los Andes. She currently serves on the CDE's civil committee alongside counselors Paulina Veloso and Carlos Mackenney.

Colleagues at the agency describe the new president as a low-profile professional with a strong technical focus. Her deep understanding of the CDE's structure is expected to be vital to the institution's management in the years ahead.
