Former Government Spokesperson Camila Vallejo will participate this Saturday, April 18, in the international summit “In Defense of Democracy” in Barcelona, Spain. The event, promoted by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, marks the first international engagement for the former Secretary of State since her departure from La Moneda.
According to reports from cnnchile.com, Vallejo will travel this Thursday to join a panel discussion focused on the challenges of the technological era. Her presentation will address critical issues such as digital democracy, the impact of artificial intelligence, the power of big tech platforms, and the fight against disinformation.

The former minister will share the stage with prominent academic and scientific figures. The panel will include Argentine economist Cecilia Rikap, a researcher at University College London, and Brazilian academic Nina Santos, a specialist in digital democracy.
As reported by The Clinic, Vallejo's agenda in Spain will extend beyond her presentation. The former official is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with international figures during her stay in the European country.
During her tenure in Gabriel Boric's cabinet, Vallejo led a specific strategy to combat fake news. In her role, she spearheaded the “Wait, Check, and Share” campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting content verification before it is spread on social media.
