Chilean director Dominga Sotomayor, Argentinian filmmaker Lisandro Alonso, and Venezuelan director Jorge Thielen Armand will present their new films at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight, the festival organization announced Tuesday.

The Quincena de Cineastas, a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival, focuses on independent auteur cinema.

Sotomayor’s film, "La perra," tells the story of a woman in a fishing community following the loss of her dog.

Feature and short film selections

Alonso, a veteran of the Cannes festival known for "Jauja" and "Eureka," will present "La libertad doble" in 2026. The project revisits his first feature, "La libertad," from 2001.

Jorge Thielen Armand will present "La muerte no tiene dueño." This is the third feature film of the Venezuelan director's career. The film follows a woman returning to her father's plantation to sell the property.

The feature film category for the section will include 19 films in total.

The program also includes a short film presentation. Guatemalan director Sebastián Lojo will present "Madrugada," a story featuring vampires.
