Midtjylland midfielder Alamara Djabi is in stable condition after surviving a stabbing attack in Herning, Denmark, according to reports from latercera.com.

The 19-year-old player, a teammate of Chilean winger Darío Osorio, was attacked with a knife over the weekend. The incident forced medical teams to perform emergency surgery to address life-threatening injuries.

FC Midtjylland confirmed the severity of the situation through a statement on social media. The club noted that the player's life was in immediate danger following the assault.

“The life of Alamara Djabi was in danger and he had to undergo emergency surgery. He then had to undergo another operation, and after a professional performance by the emergency and hospital staff, his condition is now stable. He has woken from a medically induced coma and is doing well, considering the circumstances,” the club stated.

Police investigation underway

The club added that FC Midtjylland is maintaining close dialogue and collaboration with authorities. They are also providing full support to Djabi and his family during his recovery.

Djabi, originally from Guinea-Bissau, joined the Danish club three years ago from Portugal's Benfica. While he is a regular fixture in the Midtjylland youth setup, he has also earned minutes with the first team in the Danish league.

Local police are currently investigating the motives behind the stabbing. According to latercera.com, investigators are looking into a possible personal dispute that occurred within the city's nightlife scene.

Reports from Spain suggest that authorities have already identified a suspect. However, no arrests have been made as of yet.
