The Chilean National Ballet (BANCH) has announced the premiere ofDe una luz a otra, the latest choreographic creation by Mathieu Guilhaumon. The production will mark the conclusion of the French choreographer's tenure as the company's artistic director.

The production will be staged at the Teatro Universidad de Chile from April 17 to 26. For this project, Guilhaumon reunites with actress Millaray Lobos García, who will serve as the production's dramaturg and director.

“This particular work is deeply symbolic,” Guilhaumon stated. The director described the piece as a reflection on his thirteen-year career in Chile and a process of both personal and artistic transformation.

A journey from the individual to the collective

The choreographic concept uses the passage of a day as a metaphor for the life cycle. The structure is divided into three stages: Dawn, Zenith, and Sunset.

The piece transitions from individual movements and defined contours toward a collective tapestry of intense energy. According to the choreographer, the work seeks to represent his own journey and evolution as an artist.

For her part, Millaray Lobos García noted that the work is more poetic than narrative in nature. “It operates through metaphors, evoking images, emotions, and experiences,” the dramaturg explained.

Lobos also highlighted that the creative process with Guilhaumon allowed for a new way of approaching movement and the bodies on stage. The production features an original score by Vicente Larroulet and lighting design by Andrés Poirot.

Performances will be held on April 17, 18, 24, and 25 at 8:00 PM, and on Sunday, April 26, at 6:30 PM. Tickets are available through the Ticketplus platform and at the Teatro Universidad de Chile box office.
