Journalist Catalina Edwards is returning to Canal 13 as an economic panelist for the morning program 'Tu Día,' according to biobiochile.cl.
The move marks a homecoming for Edwards, who left the network in 2006 after a career that began with her professional internship at the station.
While she previously worked as a news reporter and field correspondent, her new role focuses on financial news. She will explain complex economic topics and personal finance issues in a direct manner for viewers, the network announced.
Edwards has already begun integrating into the station's roster through Radio 13C, where she hosts the program 'Cadena de valor.'
A return to her roots
Her history with Canal 13 dates back to the late 1990s. Between 1999 and 2006, she served as a police reporter for 'Teletrece AM.'
She also contributed to morning shows such as 'Viva la mañana' and 'En Boca de todos.' During her time at 13C, she hosted 'Saque partido a su dinero.'
Reflecting on her early years, Edwards recalled the physical nature of newsgathering during the era of analog tapes.
“It was field work where we reported a lot. I arrived very early to work and we would head out to the streets to get interviews; then return to the station to edit and compile, it was the era of the large tapes, a different way of doing news,” Edwards said.
For the journalist, joining the 'Tu Día' team feels like a personal reset as she approaches her 50th birthday.
“It is a profound emotional experience, which I define in one word… rebirth. Because in the current stage of my life, as I approach 50, I believe resetting my work is a gift, it is a tremendous opportunity,” Edwards stated.
She noted that the return connects her back to the professional version of herself that started her career two decades ago.
“For me, returning is a gift, because it connects me with that Cata who started full of dreams at 22, with great hope and many desires; and that makes me feel an energy and a total renewal,” she concluded.
