Historic architecture in Santiago, Chile

The Universidad de los Andes, in partnership with the Municipality of Santiago, will launch the "Santiago, Architecture with History" series this Thursday, May 7. The official launch event will take place at the Museo de Santiago, specifically at the Casa Colorada (located at Merced 860), starting at 11:00 a.m.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Universidad de los Andes' Directorate of Cultural Extension and its Center for Territorial Studies, with additional support from the Santiago Municipality's Culture Sub-directorate.

Exploring urban heritage

The program aims to explore the urban evolution of the capital through various forms of engagement. According to elmostrador.cl, the schedule will include a series of online lectures focused on the prominent European and Chilean architects who shaped the city.

In addition to the virtual sessions, the series will feature in-person walking tours through historic neighborhoods and landmark buildings in downtown Santiago. The goal is to provide a deeper understanding of the area's architectural identity.

The program serves as an opportunity to bridge the gap between urban history and the appreciation of contemporary monuments. The official launch at Casa Colorada will mark the beginning of these academic and cultural activities.
