Argentine defender Emiliano Endrizzi was arrested Saturday after shouting 'bomb' while aboard a commercial flight from Jujuy to Buenos Aires. The 32-year-old Gimnasia de Jujuy player triggered security protocols that halted travel for hundreds of passengers.
The incident occurred on Flybondi flight FO5181, which was scheduled to depart the Gobernador Horacio Guzmán International Airport at 1:25 p.m. The threat prompted an immediate response from the Airport Security Police (PSA).
Flybondi issued a statement confirming the threat and the subsequent disruption to its operations. The airline noted that the incident was the second such threat recorded within 48 hours, creating a significant operational strain.
"As a consequence of this passenger's irresponsibility, the day's operation will be affected, with delays and cancellations impacting more than 1,200 passengers," the airline stated. Flybondi added that it is evaluating legal action against those responsible.
Club faces disciplinary action
Gimnasia de Jujuy officials are now weighing the player's future with the club. Club president Walter Morales stated that the institution bears no responsibility for the player's actions and is cooperating with judicial authorities.
"The club... has no responsibility in this. It was the player who did it, and we are going to take the appropriate measures," Morales said. He confirmed that the club is currently evaluating the possibility of terminating Endrizzi's contract.
Morales emphasized that the player's behavior was unacceptable given the professional context of the trip. "He was a player who was on working hours, representing a very important institution at a national level," Morales noted.
Endrizzi, a veteran defender with nearly 300 professional appearances, has played for clubs including Instituto de Córdoba and Independiente de Rivadavia. He joined Gimnasia de Jujuy in 2022.
