OPPO provided an exclusive early look at its upcoming Find X9 Ultra smartphone during a special event held in Mexico City this week. While the company plans to withhold full technical specifications until the official global unveiling on April 21, the preview highlighted a significant shift in the design language of its latest flagship.
This marks the first time the manufacturer has held a pre-launch event of this nature for the press. The device will be released in two distinct finishes, both heavily influenced by the heritage of Hasselblad cameras.
A design inspired by classic photography
The most prominent model, dubbed "Tundra Ochre," features a vegan leather back. According to OPPO, the vertical arrangement of the company and Hasselblad logos is intentional, designed to encourage users to hold the phone vertically during photography sessions.
A second option, "Canyon Amber," utilizes a matte glass finish in a vibrant orange hue. While both models share identical camera housing, the Tundra Ochre version includes a silver-toned camera island, whereas the Canyon Amber model matches the camera module to the phone's body color.
Both versions feature a hexagonal camera array housed within a circular island, designed to mimic the serrated texture of professional camera lenses. OPPO has also reintroduced a dedicated side button for the camera, finished in a bright metallic orange. The company notes this color choice pays homage to the shutter release buttons found on traditional Hasselblad cameras.
The metallic orange accents carry over to the ring surrounding the camera module. While these details are subtle, they distinguish the device from previous iterations and competitive flagships, emphasizing the brand's pivot toward high-end mobile photography.
Beyond the aesthetic choices, the Find X9 Ultra will feature high-end hardware, including a 10x optical zoom lens. OPPO confirmed that this is the first Find X Ultra model to receive a full global release, rather than remaining exclusive to the Chinese market. Full details on the internal components and regional availability will follow the official launch event in China on April 21.
