Women's Minister Judith Marín has confirmed the decision to remove Priscila Carrasco as director of the National Service for Women and Gender Equality (SernamEG). The Minister explained that the move stems from a loss of confidence and aims to ensure the agency's proper functioning.

During an interview on the programLa Mañana de Agricultura, Marín noted that the decision has been finalized and will be executed in accordance with current legal regulations. She assured that the process would include the payment of the appropriate severance.

“Governing also means making decisions; some are not easy. This one was not easy at all, but we must also look at the bigger picture,” the Secretary of State stated. Marín added that the government would not leave the former official "to fend for herself."

Health status and the fight against violence

Carrasco is currently on medical leave. The Minister indicated that the Ministry will respect this period and that the dismissal will not take effect until her medical leave ends. “We cannot also call into question the judgment of a healthcare professional,” she said.

In parallel, Marín announced the launch of a communication campaign to address the country's femicide rates. The plan involves direct coordination with the Carabineros to strengthen the police force's role as the primary point of contact for reporting crimes.

The Minister was emphatic about the importance of criminal prosecution for these crimes. “Those who commit violence against our women must not go unpunished,” she declared, stressing the need for coordinated action among institutions to improve prevention.
