A court has ordered pretrial detention for a 27-year-old Haitian man accused of robbery-homicide following the killing of a woman in Quinta Normal.

The suspect was located in the Melipilla area. According to a report by cooperativa.cl, the accused contacted the Carabineros himself to provide his exact location and surrender to the authorities.

The judicial investigation is currently in its early stages. The court has set a 140-day period for the Prosecutor's Office and police to complete the gathering of evidence and forensic collection.

Search for stolen belongings

Police are currently conducting active operations in the area. Authorities are working to locate the goods the victim was transporting in her van at the time of the attack.

The case has caused significant shock in southern Santiago due to the violent nature of the crime. As of now, competent authorities have not released the identity of the victim.

The legal proceedings will continue over the coming months under the supervision of the guarantee control court.
