Amuri Greene, 21, appeared in court Friday to face three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder following the fatal shooting of seven-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore in Brooklyn. Prosecutors allege Greene shot the infant on April 1 while she sat in her pushchair in the Williamsburg neighborhood.

Greene pleaded not guilty to the murder charges and several counts of criminal possession of a weapon during his Friday appearance, according to CBS News. Police believe the infant was an unintended victim caught in the crossfire of a gang-related dispute.

Investigators say surveillance footage captured two men on a motorcycle riding against the flow of traffic in Williamsburg. Police identified Greene as the man on the back of the scooter who pulled a firearm and opened fire on the street.

Greene was thrown from the motorcycle immediately following the shooting. Officers arrested him after he received medical treatment at a local hospital, according to CBS News.

Investigation into the shooting

Authorities have also identified 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez as the driver of the motorcycle. Police stated that Rodriguez crashed the vehicle into oncoming traffic after the gunfire erupted and subsequently fled the scene.

Law enforcement officials arrested Rodriguez in Pennsylvania, where he currently awaits charges in connection with the incident, police reported.

Friends and family of the Patterson-Moore family gathered at the site of the shooting on Friday night. Mourners held a candlelight vigil on the corner where the infant lost her life, marking the community's response to the violence.
