A court in Punta Arenas has ordered pretrial detention for a man accused of firing shots in public, ruling that he poses a threat to public safety.
The defendant faces charges of attempted murder, unjustified discharge of a firearm, and illegal possession of a weapon. According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly intercepted one of his targets in the area to attack two individuals with whom he had previous conflicts.
During the attack, the assailant fired at least four shots. According to case records, one of the bullets struck the bumper of a car carrying a minor.
Investigation and Arrest
The Investigative Police (PDI), through its Criminal Investigation Brigade (Bicrim), was able to identify the alleged perpetrator by tracking his vehicle and analyzing reports of threats made on Facebook.
Following the discovery, detectives raided the suspect's home. During the operation, police seized an Argentine-made .22 caliber Galand revolver.
Authorities confirmed that the weapon was not registered in the national database. The court has set a 90-day period for the investigation, during which the defendant will remain in custody.
