Lo Barnechea Mayor Felipe Alessandri has denounced shooting threats targeting several schools in the municipality and announced that drastic measures will be taken against those responsible.

The mayor has activated security protocols in coordination with the police (Carabineros), school administrations, and municipal teams to address the situation, which has been reported in other parts of the country.

Alessandri strongly condemned the threats, noting that such incidents instill fear in students, parents, and teachers. "We are not going to look the other way: we are going to investigate, identify those responsible, and apply all appropriate sanctions," he stated.

Security and Control Measures

The mayor was emphatic in warning that he would not rule out expelling those involved. "If expulsions are necessary, I won't hesitate," he declared. "Our priority is to protect students and teachers, not those who play with fear."

To address the crisis, the municipality has ordered internal investigations within the affected schools to determine responsibility. Additionally, the filing of criminal complaints will be considered if any crimes are proven.

As part of the security plan, Alessandri will present a proposal to the municipal council for the purchase of metal detectors. The measure aims to bolster security at school entrances.

In parallel, the municipal authority confirmed that local security cameras will be reviewed and school counseling teams will be bolstered. Psychological support will also be made available to the school communities affected by the threats.
