Former Labor Minister Jeannette Jara will join the Department of Public Management and Policy at the University of Santiago (Usach), according to cnnchile.com.

The academic's return to her alma mater comes after a period of lower visibility following her defeat in the presidential race. Jara will resume her teaching duties within the university's academic unit.

The Public Administration student union announced the news via social media, describing Jara's return as a positive sign for the university community.

“What a better way to start the week. We are overjoyed to share this great news,” student representatives stated in a press release.

Students also highlighted the academic impact of her appointment. “A reunion that undoubtedly strengthens our academic community and inspires us to continue building from the public sector,” they added.

Return to academia

Jara herself expressed her enthusiasm about reconnecting with her students. “Thank you, dear students, it is an honor for me to teach you once again,” the former official responded.

This professional move coincides with other ventures the former minister has pursued outside of the political front lines. Earlier this year, Jara launched a consultancy firm specializing in labor and social security advisory services.

This new enterprise focuses on the same technical areas she led during her time in government. Her return to teaching marks a new chapter in her career following her recent tenure in national politics.
