The General Directorate of Water (DGA) and the National Energy Commission (CNE) launched their respective selection processes this Sunday to appoint their next top executives. Both high-level public management competitions have an application deadline of April 27.

The DGA is searching for a new Director General to replace Rodrigo Sanhueza. The role involves leading the administration and protection of the country's inland water resources, following principles of sustainability and efficient allocation.

Government sources have linked Hipólito Zañartu's name to the potential leadership role. Zañartu, a lawyer from Universidad Gabriela Mistral, has a professional background with the Luksic Group, having worked for companies such as Antofagasta Minerals and Aguas de Antofagasta.

The new DGA head will manage a budget of $52 million and will directly oversee nine staff members, with an indirect reach of 750 employees. The average monthly net salary for this position is $7,947,000.

Meanwhile, the National Energy Commission is looking to appoint its next Executive Secretary. The agency is currently led by interim director Mauricio Funes, who took over following the departure of Marco Mancilla.

Mancilla's departure came after a methodological error was detected within the institution, followed by the appointment of Álvaro García as head of the energy portfolio. The current process aims to establish permanent leadership to guide national electricity policy.

The new Executive Secretary will be responsible for overseeing price analysis, tariffs, commercialization, and the technical standards that regulate energy production, generation, transmission, and distribution companies. The role involves direct supervision of twelve staff members and an indirect reach of 86 employees.

The institution manages a budget of $9.173 million for this period. The projected monthly net salary for the new Executive Secretary is $9,511,000.
