The Colegio San Nicolás in Villa Alemana suspended all school activities for Monday, April 13, after a shooting threat was found written in a school restroom. The school’s administration immediately activated safety protocols upon discovering the message, which warned: “SHOOTING MONDAY, APRIL 13.”

The incident was first reported by a student, who alerted the dean’s office to the graffiti. The school’s principal, Marcela Breguel, confirmed in an official statement that the incident has been reported to the Carabineros (police) to launch a formal investigation.

“Given the gravity of the situation, the administration has proceeded to implement the appropriate security protocol, which includes, among other actions, the activation of immediate preventive measures,” the institution’s statement read.

Psychological support and security measures

The school administration stated that all evidence has been turned over to the relevant authorities in an effort to identify the person responsible for the threat. As the investigation continues, the school is evaluating the necessary conditions to resume classes safely.

To address the emotional impact of the incident, the school will have a team of professionals available throughout the day on Monday. These specialists will provide support and guidance to the students, parents, and staff who make up the school community.

“As an educational community, our primary commitment is to safeguard the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” the administration emphasized in its message to parents and guardians. The school is currently awaiting official guidance to determine when academic activities will return to normal.
