Constitución High School suspended classes for Tuesday, April 14, after a threatening message was found in one of the school's restrooms. The measure was directly ordered by the Maule Costa Local Public Education Service (SLEP) as a preventative action to protect the school community.

The administration of the school, located in the Maule Region, issued an official statement regarding the situation. According to the document, the message found in the restroom “threatens the normal conduct of academic activities.”

Educational authorities are currently evaluating the next steps to ensure safety conditions are met before in-person classes resume. Meanwhile, school officials have asked students and parents to stay tuned to official information channels.

School Safety Context

This incident occurs during a period of heightened alert across various educational institutions in Chile. In recent weeks, multiple schools have had to activate security protocols following the discovery of messages promising acts of violence.

A recent case was reported in Villa Alemana, where San Nicolás School suspended classes after finding a note warning of a “shooting Monday, April 13.” That situation led to reports being filed with the police and immediate intervention by local authorities.

As of now, the administration of Constitución High School has not revealed the specific content of the threat nor identified any potential suspects. Local authorities and the Maule Costa SLEP are coordinating internally to determine the full scope of the situation.
