Carabineros de Chile has released a summary of activities during the Labor Day commemorations, reporting a total of 35 arrests nationwide. The institutional report reveals a 9.09% increase in recorded incidents compared to last year.

According to data from the Criminal Analysis Department (DIOSCAR), 60 police incidents were recorded across the country. Of these, 19 occurred in the Metropolitan Region, while 41 were distributed among other regions, as reported by La Tercera.

Most arrests were concentrated in the capital. Of the 35 individuals taken into custody, 33 were part of procedures carried out in Santiago, leaving only two arrests recorded in other regions, according to reports from BioBioChile and La Tercera.

Unrest in downtown Santiago

Disturbances were specifically recorded in the capital's historic center throughout the day. The Carabineros Central Prefecture reported a series of disturbances in downtown Santiago during the demonstrations, La Tercera detailed.

Around 11:00 a.m., a group of individuals launched fireworks at the intersection of Bascuñán and Alameda, causing concern among bystanders and authorities. Minutes later, a similar incident occurred near the Unión Latinoamericana metro station, where pyrotechnics were also used.

Near midday, another incident was recorded at the intersection of Alameda and Matucán, where hooded individuals destroyed public pavement. Regarding this, the police force warned that such behavior "puts the safety of bystanders at risk," as cited by La Tercera.

Violations of the mandatory holiday

Alongside the public order incidents, the Labor Directorate also released figures regarding compliance with the holiday. The agency confirmed that 60 fines were issued for failing to respect the mandatory holiday (feriado irrenunciable).

During the inspection process, 88 workers were suspended. The Metropolitan Region led the violations with 30 cases, followed by Valparaíso with 20, Araucanía with 11, and Los Lagos with 10, according to data provided by BioBioChile.
