Police in the Bío Bío region are investigating a violent incident at the Helen Keller Adams school in Hualpén after a man struck a woman with the grip of a firearm. Security footage captured the assault, which occurred on school grounds following a dispute between two seventh-grade students.
The conflict began as a classroom argument before escalating into a physical fight between the two minors outside the school gates as classes ended. Parents intervened in an attempt to separate the students, but the situation turned dangerous when a vehicle arrived at the scene.
Armed confrontation at school gates
Two men exited the vehicle, one of whom brandished what appeared to be a firearm. According to video evidence obtained by Radio Bío Bío, the armed man acted in an agitated state, threatening bystanders before entering the school premises. He then struck a woman on the head with the butt of the weapon.
Following the attack, both men fled in the same vehicle. Carabineros officials confirmed they are currently reviewing the security footage to identify the suspects. Preliminary reports from authorities indicate the primary aggressor is an uncle of one of the students involved in the initial fight.
The victim of the assault was transported to the Higueras Hospital in Talcahuano for medical treatment. The school administration activated its internal safety protocols immediately following the altercation.
Police are continuing their investigation to locate the individuals responsible for the attack. Under the Chilean Code of Criminal Procedure, those involved are presumed innocent until a formal judicial sentence is rendered.
