President José Antonio Kast appointed attorney Ana María Hübner as the new president of the State Defense Council (CDE) on Monday. She will lead the institution for a three-year term, officially taking office on April 16.

The appointment is rooted in her more than three decades of service within the agency. Having joined the CDE in 1991, she has been a mainstay within the organization's structure.

According to information released by the CDE, Hübner was appointed as an alternate counsel in 2006. Following that term, she began serving as a full member of the council in 2007.

Academic Experience

In addition to her work defending state interests, Hübner has an extensive academic background in Civil Law. She holds a degree in Legal and Social Sciences from the University of Chile.

In the academic sphere, she served as a professor at the University of Chile Law School between 2003 and 2009. Prior to that, she taught at Universidad Diego Portales from 1987 to 1996.

Her teaching career also included a tenure at the Universidad de Los Andes, where she taught from 1997 to 2002.

The State Defense Council is tasked with representing the State in legal proceedings of national significance. The agency leads litigation related to public integrity, corruption, and the protection of the national treasury.
