Chile's social protection system offers various direct financial support mechanisms for women facing economic challenges, whether due to maternity, socioeconomic vulnerability, or retirement. Given the typical financial strain seen in the early months of the year, authorities have issued reminders regarding the availability of these benefits.

Key Current Financial Support Programs

The Women's Work Bonus (BTM) is one of the cornerstones of support for the female workforce. It is aimed at women between the ages of 25 and 64 who fall within the most vulnerable 40% according to the Social Household Registry (RSH). Beneficiaries can choose between monthly or annual payments.

In terms of maternity, the state provides both a Maternity Allowance and a Maternity Subsidy. Both benefits provide financial support starting from the fifth month of pregnancy. While the allowance is designed to protect working mothers, the subsidy replaces the Family Subsidy for women without formal employment and must be managed directly through local municipalities.

For families, the Single Family Subsidy (SUF) provides 22,007 pesos per month per dependent, a figure that doubles in cases of disability. The government also implements the Automatic Family Subsidy, which eliminates the need for an application process for households in the most vulnerable 40%.

Retirees can access the Child Bonus, a benefit that increases the pensions of women over 65 through a calculation based on 10% of 18 minimum wages. Applications can be submitted through ChileAtende or via the individual's affiliated AFP (Pension Fund Administrator).

Additionally, the Protection Bonus—popularly known as the "Housewife Bonus"—supports those participating in the "Chile Seguridades y Oportunidades" programs. This is distributed over a 24-month period, with amounts varying based on progress within the social support programs.

Looking ahead, new legislative measures are on the horizon. Starting in 2026, an additional contribution in UF (inflation-indexed units) will be introduced for those receiving old-age or disability pensions, based on their years of contributions. Furthermore, a specific compensation plan has been designed to close the pension gap affecting women at retirement, accounting for differences in life expectancy.

To access any of these benefits, interested individuals must verify their socioeconomic status through the Social Household Registry. Detailed information regarding specific requirements and application forms is available on the official ChileAtende platform.
