Spain is reopening its embassy in Tehran to support regional peace efforts, according to an announcement by Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.
The Spanish government has instructed its ambassador to return to the Iranian capital to resume official duties.
Albares confirmed the decision during a briefing, as reported by News.Az and Al Jazeera.
"I’ve instructed our ambassador in Tehran to return, resume his post, and reopen our embassy," Albares told journalists.
Diplomatic Reengagement
The minister stated that Madrid intends to participate in peace initiatives from all available diplomatic channels.
"Spain will participate in this effort for peace from every possible quarter, including from the Iranian capital itself," Albares added.
The announcement, which surfaced via the X social media platform, outlines a strategy of active engagement within Iran.
The reopening of the mission allows Spain to maintain a direct presence in the Iranian capital during ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The ministry's plan involves utilizing the embassy to facilitate communication and contribute to regional stability.
