A large pig wandered through a polling station in Pampahuasi, Peru, during Sunday's general elections, causing a stir among voters and election officials in the Ica region.

The animal entered a local school being used as a voting center in the Yauca del Rosario district. Witnesses reported the pig moved through the classrooms, surprising those present for the vote.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the dark-colored animal approaching a specific polling table. The presence of the animal prompted onlookers to share the clip under the caption, “Peru being Peru.”

An unexpected visitor

One voter at the scene told RPP that the moment was both unexpected and amusing. The animal reportedly wandered in from a nearby street and navigated the school grounds without incident.

According to witnesses, the pig's arrival startled several people inside the classroom. However, the animal remained calm as it moved through the facility.

The pig stayed at the polling station for several hours. After its brief visit to the election site, the animal eventually wandered toward a nearby park to rest.
