France and the United Kingdom will co-host a video conference this Friday to coordinate a maritime security mission in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from the French president's office.
French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chair the meeting. The session aims to gather nations willing to contribute to what officials described as a "purely defensive mission" to secure the vital waterway.
According to reports from France 24, the primary objective of the talks is to establish a plan to "restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz when security conditions allow it."
