A young Chilean boy named Román Riquelme met Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme at a Santiago hotel during the Argentine club's visit to Chile.
The encounter took place while the Argentine side was in the capital for their Copa Libertadores group stage debut against Universidad Católica at the Claro Arena.
The boy, who shares the exact names of the former Argentine midfielder, bypassed hotel security while wearing a Boca Juniors jersey featuring Diego Maradona's name on the back.
Initially, the boy forgot to bring his identification to prove their shared name. Once he secured his ID, he approached the club president in the hotel lobby.
A dream fulfilled
Juan Román Riquelme greeted the boy with a hug and spoke briefly with him. The child also met with Claudio Úbeda, the manager of Universidad Católica, who signed the boy's jersey.
"He asked me if I was okay and I told him yes. This was fulfilling one more dream. The hug was fulfilling a dream," the boy told TyC Sports following the meeting.
The young fan noted that he asked the UC coach to sign his shirt so that he might "play just like Román."
