This Saturday's University Derby will be held without away fans, according to reports from latercera.com. The decision was confirmed in the match's operational plan for the fixture, which is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM at the Estadio Nacional.

Despite rumors that Universidad Católica fans might still attend the match in Ñuñoa following a halt in ticket sales, the 'Blue Lions' clarified that the interruption was due to technical issues. Match organizers have confirmed that the operational setup does not include the presence of UC supporters.

Representatives from the Presidential Delegation told El Deportivo that no official resolution has been issued to either authorize or prohibit away fans for this match. Authorities clarified that the formal procedure requires the organizing clubs to submit the request themselves.

The roadmap for the return of away supporters

State authorities are working toward a medium-term goal where all matches can once again host visiting fans. “That is a process. It is not just a decision made by a single authority. It involves planning, working groups, and commitment from clubs and leadership, among other factors,” sources from the Presidential Delegation stated.

The administration of José Antonio Kast has expressed its intention to ensure that “families return to the stadium,” promoting a progressive return of supporters. Recent examples, such as Universidad de Chile's match against Deportes La Serena and the presence of away teams at UC's Claro Arena, show progress in this direction.

The debate regarding the coexistence of both fanbases remains ongoing due to incidents of violence in previous seasons. For now, the Derby will be limited to local fans, with a specialized security deployment planned for the stadium's access points.

On the pitch, Universidad de Chile sits in seventh place with 14 points after 10 matches. Meanwhile, Universidad Católica holds fourth place with 17 points, following a scoreless draw against Everton in Viña del Mar.
