Santiago has gained a new hub for sports and outdoor enthusiasts. Guay Guay Park is set to officially open its gates in the Piedra Roja highlands, establishing itself as the city's second-largest urban park, spanning approximately 300 hectares.
According to elmostrador.cl, the grand opening will take place on Saturday, May 30, with the “Guay Guay Inaugural Fest.” The event aims to showcase a unique destination that seamlessly integrates sports, nature, and community.
The opening day festivities will run from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Organizers expect more than 800 runners and a total of 1,300 attendees throughout the festival.
The program features trail running competitions, kids' races, and mountain bike technical clinics. The event will also feature live music by School of Rock, a brand marketplace, and a food garden.
World-Class Infrastructure
The facility boasts 18 international-standard mountain bike tracks and over 12 kilometers of trekking trails. The design includes circuits tailored for all skill levels, as well as paved pumptracks.
The project integrates several amenities, including a restaurant, gym, sports shop, and a bicycle workshop. Juan José Bouchon, the project's president, noted that “Guay Guay Park is truly unique because it is highly attractive to both MTB and trekking enthusiasts, bringing them together in one space without overcrowding, complemented by a very comprehensive range of facilities.”
The park is set within a sclerophyllous forest environment near mountain springs. The trail design focuses on minimizing environmental impact through the use of renewable energy and conservation programs.
Tomás Valenzuela, leader of Parkland, emphasized that “the standard of our circuits is what sets us apart in the national market and serves as our trademark.”
The opening comes in response to the growing demand for recreational spaces in the capital. Tickets for the festival will be available in various categories depending on the chosen activity.
