Prime Video has officially confirmed that a second season of its original series,Young Sherlock, is in production. The announcement follows the massive success of the first installment, which quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the platform's most-watched titles.
According to reports from cnnchile.com, the first season attracted 45 million viewers during its first 28 days on air. Data released by Amazon MGM Studios reveals that the production hit number one in more than 95 countries.
The plot, which features a teenage and impulsive version of Sherlock Holmes, follows the detective as he becomes entangled in an international conspiracy alongside James Moriarty. The first season premiered on March 4, just one month before the renewal was confirmed.
A Lead Actor's Dream
For lead actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin, this project represents a major personal milestone. The star ofYoung Sherlockpreviously told CNN Chile that working under the direction of Guy Ritchie was one of his greatest ambitions.
“It’s one of those things that would be on a bucket list. If, when I was first starting out in acting, I had been asked to write a list of characters I wanted to play and directors I wanted to work with, Sherlock Holmes and Guy Ritchie would probably have been the first two,” Fines Tiffin said.
The 28-year-old actor described the experience as "surreal" and noted a deep personal connection to the character, as his father had told him stories about the detective since childhood.
The series also features a notable cast, including Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth. For now, the streaming platform has not yet released plot details for the upcoming season or a release date for the new episodes.
