The Penguin Libros Providencia Festival has announced its return for late April with an expanded three-day program. Held at the Fundación Cultural de Providencia, the event aims to celebrate International Book Day with a thematic focus on Gothic literature and the Harry Potter universe.

The 2026 edition will feature 60 local authors alongside six writers from Argentina and Spain. Notable guests include Agustina Bazterrica, Eduardo Saliere, Viviana Rivero, and Mikel Santiago.

“Following four successful editions and a turnout of over twenty thousand people at the last event, this year the festival returns with a focus on highlighting Gothic literature and the Harry Potter saga as the central themes of the exhibitions,” organizers stated.

An agenda for all ages

The festival will run from Friday, April 24, to Sunday, April 26, with free admission. The decision to add a third day aims to attract a wider audience, including those commuting through the district during the work week.

Sebastián Rodríguez-Peña, General Director of Penguin Random House, explained that adding Friday will allow those working or commuting through Providencia to enjoy the festivities. The district's mayor, Jaime Bellolio, noted that the event's extension reinforces the commitment to culture as a driver of community and development.

The program includes sessions dedicated to children's literature, featuring workshops and storytelling on Saturday morning. That afternoon will focus on genres such as non-fiction, thrillers, and novels, with panel discussions featuring authors like Jorge Baradit and Carlos Pinto.

The event will conclude on Sunday the 26th with a performance by Chilean artist Nicole, who will perform an acoustic set at the Jardín de las Artes at 7:00 PM. Additionally, the festival will feature a book-signing area with prominent figures such as Hernán Rivera Letelier and Carla Guelfenbein.

Melanie Jösch, Editorial Director at Penguin Random House, stated that the festival has established itself as a major showcase for their authors and the publisher's catalog within the Southern Cone.
