Matías Claro has emerged as the primary candidate to assume the presidency of Cruzados S.A. following the announcement that Juan Tagle will step down from his leadership role at the club. Tagle, who has headed the institution for 10 seasons, will leave shareholders to decide on a new leader at a meeting scheduled for April 20.

The business administrator, who currently serves as the entity's second vice president, has the backing of a family group that has consolidated its power within the club's shareholding structure. Through Inversiones Financieras Prisma Chile S.A., the Claro family has increased its stake to 21.3% following a series of share purchases.

Background and Shareholding Influence

Claro holds a degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica and postgraduate studies in public administration from Harvard University. His professional experience includes roles in the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism during Sebastián Piñera's first administration.

In the private sector, the executive has led companies linked to his father, Jorge Claro Mimica, including a tenure as general manager of the former CDF and his current role as a director of Grupo Prisma. The Claro family's connection to the club is historic, as Jorge Claro served as president of CDUC between 1994 and 1996.

The restructuring of Cruzados' ownership also marks the exit of the Del Río family and the entry of new players. Notable among them is Inversiones Lauca, linked to Horacio Pavez, which holds approximately 10% of the shares and maintains representation on the board.

Juan Tagle's tenure concludes with a legacy of five First Division titles and the construction of the Claro Arena. In his resignation letter, the lawyer noted that his departure stems from the interest of some shareholders in taking a more active role in the management of the franchise.
