Sculptor Joaquín Hidalgo has opened his latest exhibition, 'Human Gardens,' at the Museo Taller, located at Compañía de Jesús 278 and 84, Santiago. Open to the public until June 28, the showcase features more than 20 wood-carved pieces distributed throughout the institution's various galleries.

As reported by elmostrador.cl, the exhibition includes a work from the Contemporary Art collection of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage. The installation is designed to foster a continuous dialogue between the featured pieces and the museum's permanent collections.

The artistic concept uses the garden as an allegory for society. Hidalgo presents a space where multiple universes and diverse sensibilities coexist within a single structure.

Working with wood through a lens of transformation, the artist seeks to break down barriers, diversify species, and reclaim perspectives—allowing elements like fallen trees to flourish once again into symbolic structures that evoke the future.

Art in the Making

On select weekends during the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the artist at work. Hidalgo will be sculpting a new piece from a log measuring two meters in length and 80 centimeters in diameter.

This live demonstration aims to showcase the beauty of the creative process. The artist plans to complete this new work before the exhibition concludes.

Originally from Rancagua, Joaquín Hidalgo holds a degree in Plastic Arts from the University of Chile. His career includes several prestigious accolades, such as recognition in the CChC Sculpture Biennial and the MAVI UC LarraínVial Young Art Award.

Admission to Museo Taller is $5,000 CLP for the general public. Students and seniors can enter for $3,000 CLP, while children under 3 enter for free.
