Santiago and Lo Barnechea are gearing up to welcome hundreds of visitors this weekend with a diverse lineup of free cultural and culinary activities. According to cnnchile.com, the programming for April 18 and 19 ranges from book auctions to themed musical performances and healthy eating workshops.

In the heart of the capital, the 6th Book Auction Fair will take place this Saturday, April 18, at Paseo Bulnes 152, near the La Moneda Metro station. The event will feature nearly 20 publishing houses, literary presentations, and live music.

Meanwhile, the Lo Barnechea district will host the Comic Carnival at the El Tranque Cultural Center. Organized by the local Cultural Corporation, the event will pay tribute to the golden age of Chilean comics, featuring iconic characters such as Doctor Mortis, Barrabases, and Mampato.

The Lo Barnechea program includes workshops for children, live illustration, cosplayers, and specialty shops. One of the most anticipated attractions is the “Symphonic Pokémon” performance, which will play themes from the video game in honor of its 30th anniversary.

Alejandra Valdés, Executive Director of the Lo Barnechea Cultural Corporation, noted that the event aims to create a gathering point for people with shared interests. “Comic books and comics serve as a gateway to reading for younger generations and as a meeting point for older generations,” the official stated.

For those looking for culinary options, the Gluten-Free Market (Mercadito Sin Gluten) will be set up at Espacio Vértice in Parque Arauco. The event will offer a variety of healthy products from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Finally, the schedule extends through April 25 with the “Plant-Based Chile, Congress-Expo” at the Hotel Plaza San Francisco. The event will bring together 12 national entrepreneurs from the plant-based food industry.

Ian Cruz, director of the trade association and co-founder of the company Vegusta, explained that the fair aims to serve as a showcase for the sector. “We want the fair to be a platform to showcase the various plant-based food options offered by entrepreneurs in Chile,” the director maintained.
