Suzuki has launched the updated 3-door Jimny in Chile, integrating advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) into its classic off-road platform, according to elmostrador.cl.

The new model retains its signature compact, boxy design while adding features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane assist, and automatic high beams.

Safety upgrades also include six standard airbags, a rearview camera, and sensors, alongside traditional off-road hardware like descent control and hill assist.

Off-road capability and tax incentives

The vehicle maintains its ladder-frame chassis and AllGrip Pro 4x4 system with low-range gearing. Under the hood, the 1.5-liter K15B engine produces 100 hp and 130 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Suzuki is also introducing a specific GL version equipped with a winch. This configuration allows the vehicle to access VAT tax credits under Chilean tax regulations for commercial-use Jeeps, according to elmostrador.cl.

To qualify for the tax benefit, the vehicle meets specific requirements including a 4x4 drivetrain, a mechanical gearbox with low range, a minimum ground clearance of 19 cm, and a winch capable of a 2,720 kg towing capacity.

“The new version with a winch not only improves its off-road performance but also allows access to a unique tax benefit in its segment,” said Christian Renner, manager of Suzuki Chile.

Inside, the cabin remains functional but now includes 7-inch or 9-inch screens with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GL trim offers air conditioning and a multifunction steering wheel, while the GLX trim adds leather steering, automatic climate control, and a larger 9-inch display.

Magdalena Sibilla, marketing manager of Suzuki Chile, stated that the Jimny represents a "consistency of values" rather than a passing trend, focusing on honesty and reliability across different terrains.

The Japan-built Jimny is available through the DercoCenter network in eight colors. Prices start at $15,990,000 CLP for the GL manual version, rising to $17,595,100 CLP for the GL manual with winch, and $17,990,000 CLP for the GLX automatic version.
