Bestel, a subsidiary of Grupo Televisa, has formalized a commercial agreement with Starlink to resell its satellite internet services in Mexico.
The news was reported by journalists Mónica Alfaro and Diana Gante on the programExpansión Daily. Under the agreement, the Mexican firm will integrate Elon Musk's satellite network technology into its connectivity solutions portfolio.
The partnership aims to address communication gaps in regions of the country where terrestrial telecommunications infrastructure is either nonexistent or insufficient.
Coverage for Areas Lacking Infrastructure
Starlink's service will provide businesses with high-speed internet access anywhere in the country. The satellite technology serves as a vital alternative for sectors operating in geographically isolated areas.
Bestel will act as the commercial arm for distributing these services to corporate clients throughout Mexico. The business model focuses on reselling Starlink's satellite capacity to meet the growing demand for enterprise connectivity.
Starlink's network utilizes a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation to provide low-latency connections. This facilitates operations for companies requiring constant communication in locations where fiber optics or cellular networks are out of reach.
The agreement allows Bestel's existing infrastructure to be complemented by Starlink's global coverage technology. The Mexican company will leverage its management capabilities to roll out this service nationwide, integrating satellite technology into its connectivity plans.
Through this integration, companies will be able to maintain operations in remote areas without relying on the expansion of terrestrial cables or towers. Reselling these services positions Bestel as a key solutions provider for the corporate market, catering to businesses that require mobility and total coverage.
Bestel's reselling capability will allow Mexican companies to access Starlink technology through a local provider with an established national presence. The model aims to ensure that a lack of physical infrastructure does not hinder business digitalization in hard-to-reach areas.
